Entering the imposing old building of Restaurant and Bar 48, the slightly faded romantic grandeur of an old Provençal château welcomes us. During the refurbishment in 2014, executed by designers Viktor Lovász and Ottó Hoffer, a touch of loft, a drop of rustic and some classic character traits were blended into a well-balanced composition, yielding a truly eclectic mix in the restaurant.
The tone is set by the rustic floorboards, the aged grey walls, and the antique wood beams of the ceiling, which is set off by the elaborate wrought iron handrails, and the swirling melt-effect marble columns. The attractive pillars in the centre of the space are part of a thoroughly well-crafted illusion, where the Extreme Flexible EcoStone stone veneers made of real clay slate take centre stage. The Tan structure stone veneers are matched to the columns with such effortless perfection that they belie their super thin design and give the impression of a column carved out of a single solid slab or rock.
